Bishop Eddie Long live

Bishop Eddie Long today responded to charges made against him this week that he coerced two men into an intimate relationship. He was speaking at New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in Lithonia, Georgia and made reference to the lawsuit as part of his sermon.

It was supposed to be streamed online on the "streaming faith" religious stream but had to be abandoned. Sources say it was related to the overload of traffic the bishop has received but that hasn't been confirmed. Eddie Long said “There have been allegations and attacks made on me,” Long said during his sermon. “I have never in my life portrayed myself as a perfect man. But I am not that man that’s being portrayed on the television.” He then went on to declare his defiance to the allegations and that he will continue fighting them. However the bishop didn't take the opportunity to shed more light on the matter or use any information to help his case. There was a big hype regarding the event today but it turned out to be rather anti-climatic in it's promise.

Colbert Congress

Today saw Stephen Colbert address congress regarding the claims undocumented immigrants are taking work away from Americans. Colbert addressed the issue on behalf of the UFW (United Farm Workers) who have been raising awareness about the fact this isn't true regarding farm work and that regular Americans would rather be on welfare and unemployed than spend a day doing hard manual work on farms.

Colbert spent a day working in the fields, and he testified that he will never do it again. Unfortunately, Colbert chose to make his remarks as humorous as possible, and while his speech is entertaining, I don’t think anyone took him seriously. Rep. Steve King has already said he felt that Colbert was mocking the hearing process, and since much of Colbert’s humor revolves around mocking the political process, that’s a reasonable assumption. It appears that the hearing was more about drawing attention to the comic than about the employment issue.

The first gambling hall in Philadelphia, Sugarhouse Casino, will open today after much delay and debate. Philadelphia goes right up into the same league as Las Vegas and Atlantic city in the gambling stakes as gamblers can celebrate the right to gamble in their own city.

Those who support the initiative say that the casino will work as an economic engine for Philadelphia and will attract many tourists from all over the world. The other party show their indignation, as in their opinion SugarHouse Casino will create a gap between the local high rollers and the poverty of the city.As the opening party is about to begin, they all will have to accept the idea that the casino is now part of the Philadelphia experience for anyone.

The show's bosses deemed it unsuitable for the pre-schoolers who make up the bulk of the show's audience.

"In light of the feedback we've received on the Katy Perry music video which was released on You Tube only, we have decided we will not air the segment on the television broadcast of Sesame Street, which is aimed at preschoolers," the show's producers said in a statement. "Katy Perry fans will still be able to view the video on You Tube."In the video, which earned over 1 million views on YouTube Monday, Perry is seen bouncing after Elmo while singing a version of "Hot N Cold" that focuses on the puppet waffling over their play date instead of an up-and-down relationship. The story claims that during a meeting October 8, 2008, Congressman Jackson had asked political moneyman Raghuveer Nayak to raise millions in exchange for an appointment to Barack Obama's vacated seat. Nayak reportedly told the FBI he bought round-trip airplane tickets for Huidobro. The revelation is providing political fodder for Jackson's congressional opponent and could harm his political future. As for his relationships, his office released a statement saying, "The reference to a social acquaintance is a private and personal matter between me and my wife that was handled some time ago. I know I have disappointed some supporters and for that I am deeply sorry."

A fire broke out on the New York railway bridge and caused a delay in train services for four hours on the Metro North commuter train service to and from Grand Central Terminal yesterday afternoon according to a spokesperson. What caused the fire is currently a mystery and it's being investigated by the fire department of New York.

The blaze was battled by 60 fire fighters from just before noon, with the fire being under control by 1 pm, said fire department spokesman Frank Dwyer. No injuries had been reported, he said. Trains resumed their regular timetable by 4:15 pm, following an inspection of the Metro North, which showed the signals and power system was in working order. The part of the bridge affected was the 138th Street lift bridge over the Harlem River.According to Aaron Donovan, a spokesman for the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, trains leaving Grand Central Station were not halted by the fire. The Metro North is a high traffic train line, taking over 135,000 passengers to and from Grand Central Station a day.

Now 50 years old, she was last seen dancing in the 1987 movie, has been captured on the camera rehearsing with her partner Derek Hough.

In the classic Dirty Dancing, in spite of Gray and her costar Patrick Swayze popularly perfecting the lift in the classic blockbuster romance, since then her dancing skills have been going downhill. Gray has told to a popular magazine recently.When the she was asked if she feels like the frontrunner, she answered that she did not feel so at all till now! A freak incident in a baseball game today saw Tyler Colvin of the Chicago Cubs, get injured from shards of a splintered baseball bat and in turn saw him taken to hospital to see the full extent of the injury. At the moment Doctors are saying there is minimal internal bleeding but they will need to do more tests and x rays to see the extent of the wound below the left collarbone.

The incident was all caught on tape when Colvin, was hit by the shards in a game against the Florida Marlins at the Sun Life Stadium. Colvin was running the bases when the bat of Welington Castillo broke and part of it struck Colvin in the chest leaving a puncture wound on the left side. A chest tube was inserted to prevent a collapsed lung. Colvin was able to score before being rushed to the hospital. He is currently tied for major-league rookie lead after 20 homers but there are only 13 games left in the season and it doesn’t look likely that he’ll be able to play for the rest of this year.

Tonight is the debut of new HBO show which stars Steve Buscemi, of Reservoir Dogs fame, and is set in Atlantic City through the prohibition era in the United States and focuses on crime families striving to make ends meet by bootlegging. There definitely are parallels with the smash hit series The Sopranos and Boardwalk empire is directed by none other than legendary director Martin Scorsese.

Scorsese immediately sets the tone for the 12-episode season, combining the best elements of gangster films he loved with some of the classics he's made himself. That means thrills, brutality, sex, menace and a few laughs - the kind of formula that helped make that other series bout illegal entrepreneurs of New Jersey HBO's crowning achievement - until now. Comparisons will clearly be drawn by most people between the show and the Sopranos, word is from previews people have seen of the first episode, it lacks a bit of extra charm the sopranos had but it is still probably too early to know and definitely deserves a chance if you're a fan of this sort of drama.

Last night what seemed to be a tornado struck the queens area of New York and caused mayhem as trees fell and vehicles were smashed and one unfortunate woman tragically died. Meteorologists are visiting the affected areas today to decipher whether it actually was a tornado or just a severe storm. Nevertheless tornado warnings have been issued for the areas of Staten Island, Brooklyn and Queens.

Regardless of the final determination, what is for sure is that the line of thunderstorms that passed through Greater New York last night was part of a larger thunderstorm complex known as a squall line or bow echo. These types of storms commonly produce very strong winds and occasionally can produce tornadoes on their northern edges. Winds reported last night in Brooklyn and Queens were routinely greater than 70mph, especially in the northern “bow” of the storm, which passed through Park Slope, Kew Gardens, and on into Long Island Sound. A 28 year old woman by the name of Bethany Storro has told of a horrific ordeal in a press conference, regarding being attacked by a cup of acid being thrown into her face by a black woman who she claimed walked up to her outside a starbucks and said "Hey pretty girl, do you want to drink this?'". However she has since confessed the act was SELF INFLICTED. The motive at the moment is unclear.

She is now recovering in the burns unit at a hospital in Portland, Oregon, having undergone surgery - and she held a press conference today recounting her ordeal where she, flanked by her mother and father, Nancy and Joe Neuwelt, said: 'It was the most painful thing ever. My heart stopped. It ripped through my clothing the instant it touched my shirt; I could feel it burning through my second layer of skin.' About her original claim she said: 'I have never, ever seen this girl in my entire life. When I first saw her, she had this weirdness about her - like jealousy, rage. At the moment these claims and the unknown motives for why Bethany Storro attacked herself make this a very bizarre case.

Sacha Baron Cohen star of the worldwide smash Borat and the creator of comedy icon Ali G, has signed on to play Queen Frontman, Freddie Mercury, in a movie about the legendary rock band. The movie doesn't have a director yet but filmers have stated that filming will begin sometime next year. There's also word that surviving Queen members Brian May, Roger Taylor and John Deacon will co-produce with GK Films and Tribeca Films (Robert De Niro's company).

"Queen is one of the greatest rock bands of all time, and a music brand all unto itself," GK Film's Graham King said in a statement. "Freddie Mercury was an awe-inspiring performer, so with Sacha in the starring role couple with Peter's screenplay and the support of Queen, we have the perfect combination to tell the real story behind their success." Sacha Baron Cohen has largely starred in comedic roles throughout his career so this will be a new challenge for him and an interesting prospect.

She is now upset by claims her website and images used on it are portraying her as a "slut". She defends her position on being able to dress the way she chooses and says what she wears is very common and normal among young women and stands firm on continuing to dress this way.

"Jeans and a white shirt [with bottoms hanging out] with boots does not portray anything unsuitable!" Sainz wrote on her Twitter website in Spanish. She adds in other interviews that her image in Mexico is a big part of who she is - An image that US reporter Meredith Viera says is "unprofessional". Viera asked in her interview. "Is there a part of you that says, 'I don't want those pictures up anymore?'" All over Inez's website, her employer's website and her Twitter page, the 8-year-old reporter vet is shown in anything from bikinis to jeans showing off her perky assets. Constitution Day Activities

This Friday September 17th 2010 sees America celebrate the constitution day and is in lieu of the recognition of the ratification of the United States Constitution which was signed on September 17, 1787 by the US Constitutional Convention.

The Constituion Day Activites 2010 in Northwestern Oklahoma State University will most likely respect the Constitution Day with a conversation evaluation and complimentary for both US Constitution and Costa Rican Constituion. The activites will be open to the public for free which will happen until Monday, September 20 at the Ranger Room. Dr. Aaron Mason will be the presenter of the Costa Rican Constitution. People will also be given the opportunity to sign the Constitution on Montpelier’s front portico, just located below the 2^nd floor of the library where Madison researched past democracies and drafter the Virginia Plan. There will definitely be plenty of places to visit to help you honour the event.

Derek Jeter

Controversy hit the game of baseball yesterday when Yankees player Derek Jeter caused a storm by play acting when receiving a pitch to achieve first base. He was clearly in agony and claiming the ball had hit him so the umpires would award him a place in first base but in footage the ball is shown hitting the end of the baseball bat. This was a surprising act from a player who had built up a pristine reputation through his career and was very much a big role model to many on how to conduct yourself in the game of baseball.

Once again, there is another event which drudges up the issue of instant replays being used to help umpires decide on close calls. Derek Jeter was asked after the game where the ball had hit him, Jeter smiled: "The bat." "What can I do?" Jeter said. "My job is to get on. Barksdale (the umpire) said it hit me." This wasn't an earth shattering, shocking event that was as bad as fixing the world series or taking steroids but it was just frankly beneath a man who has been able to hold his head high throughout his career. Americas got talent winner

 Today sees the finale of season 5 of America's Got Talent. It sees host Nick Cannon declare who America has chosen as the winning contestant who takes the $1 million prize and gets to front a headlining show in Las Vegas. Sharon Osbourne, Howie Mandel and Piers Morgan will be the panel of judges and oversee acts from contestants Jackie Evancho, Michael Grimm and Prince Poppycock.

Jewel is scheduled to perform a duet with Michael Grimm, Sarah Brightman will sing with Jackie Evancho, Donna Summer will team up with Prince Poppycock and Lionel Richie will perform with Fighting Gravity in this two hour long America's Got Talent Season 5 Finale. Expect for higher level of performances from Mississippi singer Michael Grimm, Fighting Gravity, and of course Jackie Evancho's. It will be televised live for 2 hours and depends on public votes after each performance to decide the crowning winner of season 5.

Mike Sisco

 American talk show host, Oprah Winfrey on Wednesday's show was featuring an issue she tackled in 1987 about an AIDS victim by the name of Mike Sisco, being subjected to intolerance from a local swimming pool due to his disease, being asked to leave and the pool being closed down shortly after his appearance there.

Winfrey was in Williamson, USA on Wednesday, the town where this occurred, and she revisited the issue, comparing attitudes in 1987 toward the disease with how people feel in 2010 and she interviewed one of Mike Sisco's sisters, Tina, about it today, 16 years after his death, and she said he never regretted his courageous appearance on the show. The show highlights the incredible ignorance towards the AIDS virus, specifically in small towns, during the 1980's when it first became widespread.
