* Car Home: Access Google Maps, Navigation, Voice Search, Contacts, and Search with the touch of a button. Car Home opens with five large buttons that you can touch to access applications that are most useful when you're driving.
* Android Market: With the Android Market, you can browse and search for free and paid applications. Once you find an application you want, you can install it on your phone.

I got the unlocked version direct from Google for $530, so I can't imagine why anyone would pay the $630 or more other sellers are asking for. Switching my number over to T-Mobile was easy, although it took about a day for the transfer to be finalized, which I'm blaming on Sprint due to my experience with their customer service in the past. And since I have the unlocked phone I was able to get the Even More Plus plan with 500 minutes, unlimited texting and "unlimited" data for $59.99 a month, so I'll be saving a _lot_ of money in the long run compared to the iPhone on AT&T or the Droid on Verizon. So far the phone seems very fast and I've already downloaded several apps. Some people have been making a big deal about the fact that the app space is limited to the internal 512 MB flash drive, unlike the iPhone which can save app data to the main drive. I've installed 9 apps so far, the largest is 3.59MB and the smallest is 664KB, with the total coming to 12MB. According to the memory manager I've still got 153 MB of storage left (apparently the OS takes up about 350MB) so I'm not worried about running out of space before Google comes out with the fix for saving apps to the SD card that they've said they're working on. One important "feature" of the N1 which people may view as a pro or con, depending on your views on privacy, is the integration with all of Google's online applications. When you start the phone up it asks you log into your Google account (I'm not sure what happens if you try to skip that step.) It will then synch the phone with your "My Contacts" list in GMail and will automatically log you into most Google services. This morning while doing a search on my phone during lunch I was a little surprised to see similar searches I'd done this morning on my desktop showing up in the suggestions box. I've also been getting notifications on my phone for all the events I have saved on my Google Calendar. Transferring data to the phone from your computer is simple. It comes with a USB to micro-USB connector, and the hardest part of getting it connected is realizing that after you've plugged it in you need to open the notifications window on the phone and tell it to mount the SD card (this is presumably some kind of security feature in case you lose the phone.) After that you can copy files across just like any other drive. I've already moved about half a gig of music over to the phone. The battery life seems adequate so far. I need to charge the phone every day, but that's probably because I've been spending a considerable amount of time browsing the web with it. Once the novelty wears off (and the work week starts again =) I expect my usage will drop off a bit. I'm still thinking I may want to get a car charger for it though. Speaking of which, web browsing seems to work great, though I do miss tabbed browsing a little. YouTube videos work great, though other sites with the latest version of Flash don't. Adobe is currently working on Flash 10.1 for the Nexus though. It's already in beta and there are demos of it working on YouTube, so hopefully it will be out soon."

Vampire fans will appreciate the subsequently dour mood that permeates the novel, and it's not until Bella befriends Jacob, a sophomore from her school with a penchant for motorcycles, that both the pace and her disposition begin to take off. Their adventures are wild, dare-devilish, and teeter on the brink of romance, but memories of Edward pervade Bella's emotions, and soon their fun quickly morphs into danger, especially when she uncovers the true identities of Jacob and his pack of friends. Less streamlined than Twilight yet just as exciting, New Moon will more than feed the bloodthirsty hankerings of fans of the first volume and leave them breathless for the third.

Amazon customer review: "So many of the reviews are more about the character's actions- I'd prefer to actually discuss the book. My sister just started high school, she's 15 and she lent New Moon and the first book, Twilight to me. Despite our age gap (I'm sixteen years older) I found them a very engaging and entertaining read. I'm glad to share these with her and I'd suggest them to anyone who is staring at a younger, somewhat mysterious female relative wondering what to buy them for Christmas.

The pacing is good. The book is a quick, satisfying read. My feeling is that the author works through scenes rather than writing in a linear fashion- and the scenes are fairly cinematic in their structure which I personally like. She gets to the point in her stories and fits a lot of action and significant detail in without overwhelming you with a density of vision.

If you're concerned about the content, as in "Is this appropriate to give my neice/cousin's kid etc" you can be assured that the romantic tension captured here is through restraint rather than exploration. Not too surprizingly this is highly seductive. Several reviews seem disappointed by the character's actions and have given fewer stars. However, I'd like to say that this book is clearly part of a larger work and we're seeing Bella at a certain point in her personal growth. It is not a conclusion novel so it doesn't feel like one. She acts like, well, a confused person in love. I think the depiction is honest and it is a good thing when a character can annoy or drive you crazy: it means you're engaged and the author has done their job well.

I'll be honest- I wasn't expecting to be drawn in, now I'm a bit annoyed I have to wait until next fall.

New Moon is the sequel to Twilight, so I'm covering both in my review. I think it could stand alone but I'd stronly recommend reading Twilight first as it really gives the foundations and 'rules' of Bella's world."

So a fascinating read for fans of fantasy thrillers and fans of the Twilight saga as a whole.

Friends and fans of comedy legend Leslie Nielsen are gathering in their thousands on Twitter with their most loved on and off-screen memories of the actor who died of Pneumonia on Sunday at the age of 84. His death has today sent shockwaves through Hollywood where a few high profile celebrities have paied their respects to the actor through Twitter.

Many are citing one of Nielsen's most famous catch phrases from his 1980 film "Airplane!": "I am serious, and don't call me Shirley." "American Idol" host Ryan Seacrest tweeted, "Sad to hear about Leslie Nielsen passing. To this day ‘Airplane' is still one of my favorite comedies ever." Comedian Russell Brand paid tribute, writing, "RIP. Leslie Nielsen. Shirley, he will be missed." Rocker Slash called Nielsen "one of my all time favorite comedians," adding, "U my friend, will be missed big time. Wow, what a loss."

Today sees a group of soldiers partaking in the Seattle Marathon. Last year saw the soldiers take on the Amica Insurance Seattle Marathon Baghdad Shadow Run. On this marathon Major Mark Piccone, Major Mike Moore and soldiers from Joint Base Lewis McChord have agreed to join forces to form the Iraq/Afghanistan Remembrance Group.

The running group seeks to honor those who died or were wounded while serving in combat in Iraq or Afghanistan. Part of the group ran in Saturday's 5K race, and was comprised of wounded warriors who were accompanied by fellow soldiers and family members who lost loved ones in battle. More than 49 soldiers are expected to run in the half and full marathons today. The marathon course is USATF- and AIMS-certified and is a Boston Marathon qualifier.

So let's hope they all manage to run a good race and pay a great tribute to the dead and wounded soliders that were in combat in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Hours ahead of an awaited leak of millions of classified US documents, Wikileaks today claim it was the victim of a cyber attack but said the documents would be revealed to the public through several big named newspapers. On Twitter the site stated that: "We are currently under a mass distributed denial of service attack."

It added that even if its website goes down a number of newspapers will go ahead and publish the documents released to them. Ahead of the release of the potentially embarrassing documents, which the US fears could harm its relations with several countries, the American administration asked the website to refrain from making the classified documents public. It has asked it to return the "illegally obtained" papers, insisting that their leak would "endanger the lives of countless individuals."

So a real mishap with the website and they will be hoping they resolve the issue as soon as possible.

This is my 6th laptop since 2001 and it's my favorite so far. I'm not a big fan of long posts so here it is:

PROS
- Very long battery life
- Excellent HD screen quality
- The Harmon Kardon speakers are loud and crisp. Best sound I've heard from a mid-range laptop
- Number pad on a laptop keyboard & overall good use of space for the keyboard.
- Cool looking backlit LEDs that are flush - some might find weird but I love it.
- Didn't come with a bunch of crappy manufacturer software.

CONS
- Big battery life = big battery. The battery actually puts the laptop on a slant, which again I like, but some may not. The only time I've found it annoying is when I use a slanted lap desk with it (double slant).
- The touchpad/mousepad is to the left of the laptop. It's centered over the keyboard because of the number pad to the right. It took some time to get used to and I used to always touch it accidentally when typing causing some typos. After awhile I bought a wireless mouse anyway and turned the touchpad off."

So a well recommended laptop with plenty of great features at its disposal and certainly would be a very good purchase.

jenni lyn watson

Police report that they have seized the ex-boyfriend of Jenni-Lyn Watson, whose body was found located in a storage shed near Clay Central Park, N.Y., Saturday afternoon. Steven Pieper has arraignment Saturday night at Clay town court and he has claims of killing Watson and leaving her body in a park, laid against him.

Watson and Pieper had an on-and-off relationship over an 18-month period, according to Onondaga County District Attorney William Fitzpatrick, WSYR-TV reports. The arrest comes hours after Watson's body was found in Clay Central Park, where the search has focused since she disappeared on Nov. 19. Watson's family has been notified and will identify the remains. An autopsy is planned for Sunday morning, WSYR-TV reports. A friend of Watson's, who spoke to FoxNews.com on condition of anonymity, said the young woman had recently broken off an engagement.

So a tragic story which will hopefully be resolved soon and the perpertrators being punished accordingly.

Country music legend, Willie Nelson, has been arrested after officials of a border patrol checkpoint in Texas found six ounces of marijuana located on his tour bus. Nelson, was on his way from California to Austin, Texas, when the bus was seized in Sierra Blanca and a police officer reportedly smelled traces of pot, reports the associated press.

Nelson claimed the marijuana was his, writes the El Paso Times. A total of three people, including Nelson, were arrested. "He could get 180 days in county jail, which if he does, I'm going to make him cook and clean," Hudspeth County Sheriff Arvin West said. "He can wear the stripy uniforms just like the other ones do." This isn't the first time illegal substances were found in Nelson's tour bus. In 2006, nearly 1.5 pounds of marijuana and three ounces of hallucinogenic mushrooms were found inside the bus.

So another unfortunate drug bust on the country and western star and hopefully he'll be more careful in future.

Even so, I am composing this entire review on that "terrible" keyboard, and it is very comfortable.
The touchpad with the integrated buttons is a little funky, but OH WAIT, I can touch the screen!!!!

Overall, I would have to say that this is one of the best netbooks I have ever had the chance to use. Lenovo has really done it again, and I am very very happy with my purchase. Whether you are looking for something to travel with that you can have a little fun with, or if you are just looking to get over the boring, touchless, machine you use on a regular basis; this is the way to go.

On the holidays, TV sports shows tend to show feature programmes that are meant to tug at the heart strings of viewers and tonight sees CBS' NFL pregame show feature a show in the late Cincinnati Bengal Chris Henry which saw host James Brown get chocked up on the reflection of the legend. It features Henry's mother, Carolyn Henry Glasby, talking about the recipients of organs from her son, who died in an accident last year at age 26.

Following the report, an overcome Brown said "wow" and was unable to continue speaking. 

Colleague Boomer Esiason stepped in and told viewers he'd signed up to be an organ donor and reminded that "you too can give the gift of life. … I just want to say to Carolyn, as the father of a cystic fibrosis patient who may some day have to go through a lung transplant: you have touched millions today with your story and thank you so very much for being a hero today."

So a touching story which is sure to see a few more tears shed on watching it and is a nice testament to the great character of Chris Henry.

national dog show

Today NBC will be showing the annual "National Dog Show" which is presented by Purina. This will be hosted by expert commentators David Frei and Host John O'Hurley. The American kennel club has six new breeds to recognise this year which include the bluetick coonhound, the redbone coonhound, the Boykin spaniel, the Cane Corso, the Icelandic sheepdog and the Leonberger.

However, O'Hurley will be appearing with one less dog in his life. "We had some sad news this year," he tells Zap2it. "Skoshi, our Maltese, finally passed away at the age of 20 years and four months. I guess the oldest dog in the world was 21, but he was getting up there. We had to, but it was kind of a sad day." O'Hurley's household does still include a Havenese and a King Charles spaniel. "They're doing great," says O'Hurley. "They sleep with us at night, and now we have a four-year-old boy who's trying to weasel his way into the mix."

So a treat for dog trainers and lovers throughout the United States and will be fascinating viewing for the judges.

Friday night saw Michael Grimm performing in his hometown of Waveland and to the satisfaction of thousands of fans which excitedly awaited his appearance on stage. Grimm is a native of the Waveland area and is using his fame gained from winning America's Got Talent to help tourism rates in Hancock County. The millionaire played in front of many local fans but also to many people who travelled from far and wide.

Teresa Williams said, "Yes, I drove. I started last night about seven o'clock, and here we are." Decked out in Grimm gear, including the infamous hat, Teresa Williams drove more than 1,000 miles from Chicago to see the singer she adores. "He is so sweet. He is such a genuine person. He is absolutely wonderful. I mean he is adorable," said Williams. Merchandise flew off the shelves as fans supported the Waveland native. But they were also supporting Hancock County since BP money paid for the show in hopes of boosting tourism.

So it's good to see the America's Got Talent winner utilising his fame to gain more exposure to his local area and help it boost it's income.

Famous female boxer, Christy Martin, who clocked up a career record of 49-5-3 (31 KOs), has been taken to hospital after being shot and stabbed yesterday and it took place in her Orange County, Florida home say reports from TMZ. The 42 year old ex boxing legend and cover of a 1996 "sports illustrated" cover reportedly escaped her home following the attack and was able to wave down a motorist.

After she was rushed to the hospital, she managed to tell police that the attacker was her husband, James Martin, according to the TMZ report. The report goes on to state that James Martin is still at large and they are currently "on the hunt" for the suspected attacker. Don King, Martin's former promoter told TMZ, "I am shocked and saddened to see this happen to Christie. I send my prayers and well wishes."

So a horrible event that the former boxing legend has had to suffer and hopefully she will be able to recuperate soon.

The only regrets that Colin Campbell possibly has about the infamous e-mails he wrote concerning the discipline of ex NHL referee Dean Warren, it’s that they were made public. “Your e-mails are personal, you thought. But they’re not dishonest,” the NHL disciplinarian said Monday on a radio interview. “If I knew the world would be reading my e-mails, I might have wrote them differently.”

Campbell was on Toronto’s The Fan 590 to explain the now-infamous e-mails he exchanged with former director of officiating Stephen Walkom that were submitted as evidence in a legal dispute involving the firing of Warren in 2007. “I have no regrets (firing Warren). We did everything right,” he said. “Dean just couldn’t make it as a referee. There was nothing personal. We had no agendas against him. He just had a problem officiating.”

So campbell stands firm on his position regarding Stephen Walkom. Just a shame that his emails were exposed and the furoure arose from the result.

UDOT, the Utah Department of Transportation, is prepared for a big storm occuring in the state and is taking precautions immediately. One way the department is combatting against the weather trouble is with UDOT trucks which will be filled with a brine solution and it will be sprayed on roads and bridges throughout the area in place of the typical spread of salt.

The solution helps prevent snow and ice from sticking on the roads, as opposed to the regular salt which will just blow away in the projected 50 mile-per-hour winds. Fox says UDOT has prepared 500 plows to move across the state as needed. UDOT supervisor Jake Brown told ABC Salt Lake City, “They’re telling us this is going to be a bad storm and our weather guys say once the storm comes in the temperatures are going to plummet.” UDOT advises people to stay home and avoid roadways to stay safe. For people that need to drive, they recommend leaving early and driving slowly, leaving plenty of room for plows to work.

So a major operation is underway for the people of Utah to take heed of the warnings and to grin and bear through the harsh conditions.

Utah should prepare for blizzards today it's been reported by ksl, and just in time for one of the most eventful travel days of the year. The most current prediction from the national weather service says that a storm front will hit Ogden between 4:30pm and 5:00pm and then appear in Salt lake City between 5:30pm and 6:00pm and high winds may emerge even before the front occurs.

Meteorologists say the 3 to 6 inches of snow anticipated in the valleys is not the problem -- it's the combination of snow, extreme cold and possibly damaging winds. Glen Merrill, a National Weather Service meteorologist in Salt Lake, said, "This will far surpass anything that we've seen, probably for the last several years." The storm will begin in the north, move south and could affect most of the state. It should end by noon Wednesday.

So if you or anybody you know are in those areas at these times help take precautions against anything hazardous happening for you.

His fights with the other members of the band are things of legend. He supposedly attacked a prostitute in Nevada. He is a hot head, but is also known to be a very cool guy. I wonder which we will get on the show.
